The historical museum of Lefkosia revives life in the capital from ancient times to the present day.

Byzantine Museum and Art Galleries

Largest collection of icons on the island, covering the period from 9th to 18th century AD. The Art Galleries contain oil paintings, maps and lithographs.

Ethnographic Museum of Cyprus

(Former: Cyprus Folk Art Museum), founded by the society of Cypriote Studies
Wide collection of Cypriot folk art of 19th and early 20th century, including wood-carved objects, tapestry, embroidery, pottery, national costumes and hand-woven materials.

National Struggle Museum

Documents, photos and other memorabilia of the 1955-1959 National Liberation Struggle.

Cyprus Postal Museum

Collection of Cyprus stamps from 1800 onwards. These stamps, classified internationally amongst the bests, are of significant value in world philately.

Cyprus Jewelers' Museum

Museum of the History of Cypriote Coinage

Byzantine Museum

An attractive collection of objects from Byzantine period, including Byzantine icons from 7th to 18th centuries and the oldest icon found yet in Cyprus of 7th or 8th century.

Larnaka

Larnaka District Archeological Museum

Interesting collection of find from Larnaka area dating from the Neolithic Age to the Roman period.

The Pierides Foundation Museum

15th June-30th Sept.: Monday-Saturday 9-13, 16-19
The oldest privately owned museum in Cyprus, set up by Dimitrios Pierides (1811-1895). It houses ancient, medieval, Byzantine and more recent objects belonging to Pierides family.
A display case of modern Greek and Cypriot could be seen in courtyard.

Larnaka Fort-Local Mediaeval Museum

Opening hours:
Winter: Monday-Friday 9-17
Summer: Monday-Friday 9:30-19:30
Built in 1625, it was used as a prison in the first years of British rule.
It houses District Mediaeval Museum. The fort is also used as the Larnaka Municipal Cultural Center during summer.

Larnaka Municipal Cultural Center

Five old Larnaka Customs warehouse, built in colonial style, have been renovated and turned into Larnaka Municipal Cultural Center. It houses Municipal Gallery and the only Paleontology Museum in Cyprus, where the ancient fossilized remains of pygmy elephants and hippopotami that once lived on the island could be seen.
The Center also has facilities for occasional exhibitions.

The Museum has displays of rare insects, birds and animals of Cyprus.

Agios Lazaros Ecclesiastical Museum
